As your massage therapist these are some of the things that I would like to help you accomplish. In my continuing journey toward wholeness these are among the things that my teachers have helped me to find. It is now my obligation, and my honor, to pass these lessons on, to you. How would I do that?Every person is unique, and every body-work session should be custom-made to work for you. Some days you come in achy and sore from a weekend of yard work, other days you might arrive full of joy, or heartache or laughter. Your individuality and present concerns and needs should be the only things that enter the treatment room with you. My Techniques:I offer the following techniques, and most sessions will be a free-flowing combination of some or all of these: Myofascial Release TechniqueThis approach to the whole body is based on the concept of fascial restriction, which is a little like imagining a spider web, and tugging on one ‘string‘. As you apply pressure to one area of the web, the entire web reacts. Within our bodies we have this incredible tissue called fascia, which is much like that spider’s web. It can get restricted, ‘stuck’ in uncomfortable ways. Myofascial Release works to decrease the pressures within the entire system, and can have tremendous benefit. Cranio~Sacral TherapyRestores a sense of balance within the body. The head and spine protect and are nurtured by the dural tube, which is the tough material that contains the fluids that wash and nurture the brain and spinal cord. Cranial work is used to encourage the flow of those fluids. It is also used for treating migraine, TMJ pain, fatigue, and fibromyalgia. Swedish MassageAlso known as ‘relaxation massage’ promotes blood flow, lymphatic circulation, and an overall feeling of well-being. Relaxation massage is appropriate for first time massage experiences, and for those who simply want to feel nurtured. Trigger Point Therapy/Deep Tissue MassageThese techniques are reserved for the toughest knots that won’t release with gentle persuasion. This work is done to your tolerance, so be prepared to give feedback about the depth of pressure you feel during this type of session. Reiki and Energy WorkAre very gentle techniques to address the subtle fields of energy in and surrounding the body. Sometimes done with a light touch, sometimes the hands are off the body. Reiki and energy work can be done while the client is fully clothed; and can be a good start for individuals who are particularly nervous about disrobing for bodywork. |
AppointmentsTherapeutic Massage with Tianne Wheat is available by appointment only. Please call to schedule. Please remember that your comfort during your appointment is a shared responsibility. If I am working too deeply, or not quite deeply enough, if the office is too warm or too cool, tell me. I can only make the adjustments that I know are needed. |
Schedule of FeesI charge for services based on the time that we spend in session, not by the specific technique used.
At this time checks and cash are the payment methods that I can accept. Gift Certificates are available for purchase. Fees are current for October 1, 2009 and are subject to change without notice. |
